Scan cards, sign-in sheets, and handwritten notes

Snap a photo of a business card, a sign-in sheet, or a scribbled note, and Em adds the people on it.

Met someone at the coffee shop and wrote their number on a receipt? Em reads handwriting as well as print, so a quick photo is all it takes. She's just as happy with business cards, open house sign-in sheets, PDFs, and printed lists.

  1. Open People, then Scan.
  2. Take a photo, or choose files: photos, PDFs, Word documents, or a phone contacts file. Up to 10 at once.
  3. Em reads them and lists each person she found, with their email, phone, and anything else written down.
  4. Check the list. Em points out anyone who's already in Em, so you don't add them twice. Untick anyone you don't want, fix anything misread, then add them.

The photo is kept on each person's timeline, so you can always look back at the original.

Reading a scan uses credits: 3 per photo, 3 for a PDF plus 1 per extra page, and 2 for a Word or text file. A phone contacts file is free. See What credits pay for.

Running an open house? Em's own sign-in screen skips the scanning entirely. See Run an open house sign-in.
